A nice looking 3-piece ghettoblaster from Grundigs 1982 katalog

Grundig Party Center 1000

In 1982, Grundig introduced the Party Center 1000. It's a 3-piece radiorecorder that was made in Portugal. It has detachable speakers that hang from the handle pivot, so when you lift the handle into the carry position, the speakers are locked. Its output power is allegedly 2x20W "music power", but that's not RMS. In my experience, music power quotations are inflated 20% to 100% higher than RMS.

The tuner section is nice, because it has station presets, a signal strength indicator, a flywheel-weighted tuner knob, and a lighted dial with its numerals printed on an acrylic plate that carries the light all the way across the dial.

It measures 68cm long and weighs 8.6kg without batteries. It shares the same "body shell" as the Party Center 2000, but that model is much more advanced, with a digital tuner and a 3-motor soft-touch cassette deck.
