Sony XF-2000 and 3000
These were very heavy portable stereo systems from 1979 or 1980. They were nicknamed "MEDIA Portable Component". In 1981 they were replaced by the XF-5000. The metal studs on top are for attaching the speakers, which apparently were sold separately. The tuner dial has a nice light that makes the numerals glow blue. The tape deck features autoreverse and Dolby. There is a Phono input on the back. The amplifiers use a technology called "Pulse Width Modulation" which supposedly increases battery life. RMS maximum output is 2x15 watts. FTC output is a minimum of 2x10 watts from 100 to 20,000 Hz; both channels driven into 4 ohms, with no more than 2.0% total harmonic distortion.
There were 3 models:
- XF-3000
- XF-2000 (same as the XF-3000 but does not have AM)
- XF-300 (has a graphic EQ instead of a tuner)
