Sanyo M9970

Sanyo M9970 Boombox.

This is a rather attractive small (not mini) boombox. Made by Sanyo, one of the leading manufacturers of portable stereo at the time, this model is not as common as others I've seen by Sanyo. Occassionally, one sees them available. I remember this from back in the day and I immediately fell in love with the VU meters which is quite unique. First unlike rectangular bar meters like most manufacturers, they used what they call "LED Staircase Power Indicators, 6 bright LED's per side display power level". The leds themselves are round, while you mostly see rectangular leds in most boomboxes. There is a separate needle meter for tuning. This set also includes true coaxial speakers... woofers with center mounted tweeters. This model doesn't get a lot of attention when it does find it's way up for sale, but that's ok, better for me to get a great deal!
