One of the rarest discolite boomboxes, it features detachable speakers and a rotating disco ball.

Berecha DL-26

Of all the discolites, this might be the rarest. I couldn't even find it in a Google search before I created this page. It's a 30-inch long, 3-piece boombox with 2 tape decks, a rotating disco ball on top, 2 side projector lights, an LED meter running across the top, and LED meters on each speaker. Together, all these lights put on quite a show!

Construction and build quality seems similar to Lasonic, Dynasty, Helix, and other "big black" radios, except the tape decks are even cheaper, if that's even possible. Inside, there are some Chinese chips I’ve never heard of before:

Amp chip: CD7232GS
Pre-Amp Equalization (for tape): CD7668GP
Tuner:
KIA6040P: AM/FM - IF amp
KIA6043S: FM Multiplex
CD7335GS: FM Front End

Today, many excellent products are made in China, including Apple products, so they can definitely produce quality products. However, these chips were produced during a time when "Made in China" was not a phrase to be advertised or proud of. Hopefully these chips never fail, because I am virtually certain that none of them are replaceable. If they fail, they are gone. You might be able to replace the amp, since you only need to extract the pre-amp signal to get a new amp module to work, but the rest of the IC’s are integral to the circuits and can’t be extracted. And with no pin-pin equivalents available, failure of any of those IC’s will brick the device of that feature (tape/radio).

The speaker woofers are 4 ohm QaoSheng units made in China. The tweeters are fake - they're just pieces of silver plastic. But overall, this boombox still sounds better than expected.
