The R99 was basically a re-styled General Electric 3-5286A, which means it was probably manufactured in 1981 or 1982.

Zenith R99

This Zenith R99 is a re-styled version of the GE 3-5286A ghettoblaster. The functions and switch locations are exactly the same. The difference is, it's more shiny, with chrome rings around the speakers. biggrin Also, the toggle switches are square instead of round. And finally, the LED meter is bigger, with more segments.

This model has a problem where the chrome rings around the speakers fall off and just sit there rattling around behind the grills. If this happens to you, you will need to go inside and glue them back on.
