This is a small boombox from 1982 with surprisingly good build quality and sound!

Zenith R98

At only 17 inches wide, the Zenith R98 isn't going to get much respect on the street. But collectors who appreciate build quality and attention to detail should really consider getting one. The brushed metal trim plate is the best-looking piece of metal I've ever seen on a boombox. It's just got a really smooth, lustrous finish. And the microphone holes are so intricate and elegant. All the controls feel sturdy and precise. Even the tuner knob feels like it's got some weight to it. And the sound quality is pretty damn good for a small box without separate bass and treble. Its price was $160 in 1982, which was actually a very good deal considering its superior build quality compared to its competitors, and even compared to larger more expensive radios. In fact I wouldn't doubt if Zenith lost money on it.
