The D8634 is basically a D8614 with different styling, and square speaker grills instead of round.

Philips D8634

The D8634 Soundmachine is a 4-speaker ghettoblaster/radiorecorder from 1982, made in Austria by Philips. It has a 3-motor cassette deck, which is very uncommon in a ghettoblaster. It also has big, bright LED meters. These meters show the battery strength and tuning strength (when the tuner is being used). If you want them to dance to the beat, you will need to insert a blank tape and press Record.

The service manual can be purchased HERE(external link)

There are two TDA1011A amplifier chips inside, producing 5 watts per channel when AC power is used, or 3.5 watts per channel when battery power is used. The Philips catalog says 10 watts per channel, but I trust the service manual more.

The D8634 is technically the same as a Philips D8614. They both have the same features and dimensions. They both have the same speakers too (blue 17cm woofers and pizeo tweeters). The only difference is the cosmetics, including the front panel, grills, and buttons.
