The RX-5250 is basically an RX-5150 with square grills and a couple extra features. Prices range from $75-250 depending on condition.

Panasonic RX-5250

The RX5250 is an early 1980's boombox from Panasonic. It's an upgraded version of the Panasonic RX-5150. It shares the same dimensions and the same tape deck, but it has different cosmetic trim and different controls. The 5250 has a dual VU meter, while the 5150 just has a single meter. The 5250 also has Dolby, and a choice of manual or automatic recording levels.

The woofers are 3 ohm, 6-3/16" diameter (part# EAS-16P151SP), and the tweeters are 1" diameter. The power amp consists of two Rohm BA532 chips. Power output is 7.5 watts per channel according to the service manual.

The European versions of this model are called RX-5250L, RX-5250LS, and RX-5250LE. Unlike the North American versions, these versions have a 4-band tuner, a fine tuning knob, and a tuner light which is activated by a button near the tape counter. This tuner light is very dim, but you can replace it with an LED.
