Williamsons AIE-2000
This is a 7-speaker boombox. That's right, seven! There are 4 on the front (5-inch woofers and 2-inch tweeters), one 2.75 x 1.5 inch oval speaker on each side, and a big 6x9 inch oval woofer on the back. All of these speakers are labeled "Hokutone Japan". There is a toggle switch labeled "Enviro Stereo" that sends more power to the side and rear speakers.
We believe it was introduced in 1977 or 1978. Most boomboxes from those years made only 6-10 watts RMS, but this one allegedly makes 13.5, and I believe it. It produces nice warm bass even at very low volumes. It was made in Hong Kong, by a company called Asia International Electronics Limited (AIE). I don't know why they added the name Williamsons to it. It is very heavy for its size: 7.7kg (17.0 lbs) without batteries. It looks very similar to the Sankei TCR-1000, but that model only has 4 speakers and was made in Japan.
