Sharp GF-1000
One of Sharp's most successful boombox series was the GF-777. Featuring 4 front-facing woofers (2 regular and 2 super-woofers), they had big size and alluring looks that just screamed POWER, must-have, beauty, quality, etc. There were several versions, including the 767, 909, 999, 919, and this 1000. There's no question that these models were popular back in the 80's, and still are, among collectors. And this GF-1000 version sits on top of that series. It features a very attractive cobalt blue grill over a dark speaker chamber, with white woofers and chrome dust caps. It is definitely a looker. Being a domestic Japanese model, it features Japanese writing on the controls, and the voltage is 100V, which means that people outside Japan should use a voltage converter. The tuner goes from 76 to 108 MHz, which covers the Japanese FM range as well as the international ranges too. This is uncommon, because Japanese boomboxes usually only go from 76 to 90 Mhz.
