Philips AZ2555
The AZ2555 was introduced in 2001, according to the date on the service manual....and manufactured for at least 2 more years after that. It seems like Philips' answer to the JVC Kaboom. It's smaller and less powerful, but it still kicks out some healthy bass. Yes there are only 2 speakers, but they have rubber surrounds and big magnets, enabling them to move a lot of air. That air has to go somewhere, and it goes through the bass ports on the back, AND it vibrates a passive radiator mounted prominently on the front for all to see. This radiator is called WOOX, and it looks very cool, with a clear silicone surface. It sits in a sealed chamber where it is pressurized by the right speaker. The bass, mids, and treble can be adjusted via buttons on the LCD panel. Each can be adjusted in 10 steps from -5 to +5. The WOOX button just adds a bit more bass on top of +5. I guess you could call it a +7.
This model has an AM/FM radio tuner, CD player, and Aux input jacks. It also has a USB port, but it cannot play flash drives. It's only made for connecting to a Windows PC (and to do so, you have to use Philips' clunky MusicMatch software).
