GE 3-6055A
This model, the 3-6055A, was introduced in the year 1984. I believe it was General Electric's highest-quality and most powerful boombox. But it's very rare. Only a few collectors own one. Maybe it didn't sell very well? Maybe it was too expensive? I don't know. It certainly looks nice. However it's actually smaller than it looks. It's 25" long, 10" tall (without the handle), and 6" deep.
It's a detachable component system with 3 different part numbers: The CR55 tape deck, the TA55 tuner/amp, and the SS55 speakers. I believe the tuner/amp and tape deck were made by Pioneer, because they are virtually indentical to the ones used by the Pioneer CK series. Specifically, the Pioneer FA-C7T tuner/amp and the CT-C8 tape deck.
You can plug it into the wall, or use the battery pack which takes 10 D-cells. The amplifier is powered by two Hitachi HA13001 chips, and provides an output of 12.5 watts per channel (FTC minimum) from 60 to 20,000 Hz, into 6 ohms, with no more than 5% total harmonic distortion. For comparison, that's a little bit better than a Sharp GF-777. So this is no cheap lightweight. It's a powerful, well-built system that sounds great.
