Aiwa NSX-SZ809

The 1990's were the decade of the "shelf system". Manufacturers rushed to design flashy systems with CD changers and big power claims. Some came with satellite speakers that provided some illusion of surround sound, even though the circuitry was not capable of providing a true 5-channel experience.

Special bass-oriented systems were designed for Brazil, like this NSX-SZ809 from Aiwa. It has 4-way speakers with big (20CM) powered subwoofers inside, colored red. The speaker box is divided into two chambers, with the subwoofer mounted in the rear. Are they good-looking? You be the judge.
