The CFS-9000 is another Sony 3-piece with their square APM woofers. These woofers measure 7x7cm, and are coupled with 4cm cone tweeters and bass reflex ports. The amplifier chip is an STK4301. On the cardboard packaging for this boombox, Sony claims its power output is 2x40 watts, but the service manual says it's only 2x22 watts (continuous RMS, 6 ohms, 1kHz, and 10% THD). And that's only if you're using AC power. If you're using batteries, output is dramatically lower (only 2x4W).

The tape deck has music search, autoreverse, Dolby B, and automatic tape type selector. Its frequency response is 40 to 16,000 Hz when using Metal tape. The tuner has 7 bands (or 8 if it's a European model with the LW band). 5 of those bands are shortwave bands that use a separate toggle switch.

Weight is 8.6 KG (not including batteries).
