Wiki Panasonic RX-CT980 Boombox Review and Description vs.

Panasonic RX-CT980

The Panasonic RX-CT980 is one of the best-sounding "value" boomboxes around. When we say "value" we mean in the used marketplace, like Ebay. We don't know how much it cost back in 1994 when it was new. It's a 3-piece system that measures 24.5 inches long, 10 inches high, and 8 inches deep. It has 4 amplifiers and bi-amplified speakers with ported, loosely-sprung 12cm bass drivers and fairly large (8cm) high-range drivers. These features are the heart of and reason for the general consensus of this being a strong performer. Digital tuner with presets, and graphic equalizer for controls, and CD/Auxillary input capability provides good configuration flexibility. Finally, a double cassette deck rounds out this sytem. The deck is comprised primarily of plastic parts that don't have a high-quality feel, but this model was released in 1994 during a period of generally declining quality across the industry. So, to be price competitive, Panasonic followed suit. Nevertheless, given the era in which it was sold, it is a remarkable performer.
