This disco ghettoblaster was sold in Germany, but there are many other versions with different names.

Intersound SCR-J83WE Discolite

This ghettoblaster has a 4-band tuner, dual cassette players, dual graphic equalizers, Aux inputs, and an "X" shaped LED VU meter with 10 segments. It also has disco lights around the speakers. Those lights are supposed to speed up when the volume is increased. Dimensions: 62.5 cm wide, 35 cm tall, and 16.5 cm deep. It was made in China.

The woofers are 6 inches and the tweeters are 2 inches. The woofers have foam surrounds and big magnets. There are functional bass ports under the woofers, which is logical since the rear panel is mostly sealed off. The amp chip is a Panasonic AN7177, which is capable of producing 2x18W according to Panasonic literature. But they made that calculation when using 4 Ohm speakers. The speakers in this boombox are 8 Ohm, which is more restrictive, so you will not get as much power. You might be able to improve this boombox by installing speakers with a lower Ohm rating.

There are several re-branded versions of this box, including the Cougar 8383-DL, Elta 6874, Levis 1161, SuperTech J-8383, Artech 8383-X and 8385-X, and the Yoko YPR-74.
