These are the original microphones Sanyo supplied with the M9994, M9998, and other boombox models.

Sanyo HM940 and HM941 boombox microphones

Sanyo provided external microphones with certain boomboxes like the M9994, M9998, and MX920. They included swivel stands that fit into slots on top of the boombox. Other models with these slots include the MX720, MX820, MX824, MX960, M9965, M9975, and possibly others.

The HM-940 microphone has an on/off switch that allows you to activate your tape deck remotely. It has a special 2-prong plug because it needs to send a signal to the boombox when you press that switch.

The HM-941 does not have that switch. Nor does it have the 2-prong plug. Instead, it has a single 2.5mm plug.

Look on the side of your boombox to see how many mic inputs it has. If there are only 2 holes, you need two HM-941 mics. If there are 3 holes (one saying "Remote"), then you need an HM-941 and an HM-940.

If you don't have the stands that originally came with these microphones, you can buy 3D-printed replicas of them HERE.(external link)
