Universum CTR-2306
The CTR-2306U was a high-quality ghettoblaster from Universum, a brand created by the German mail-order retailer Quelle. It was made in 1980, but I don't know who manufactured it or where. It's possible it was manufactured in Germany, maybe by ITT (their designs are similar), but it is equally possible that it was manufactured in Japan, because by 1980 many "German" radios had been outsourced to Japan. Whatever the case, it is very well-built, and it has more features than many larger boxes, including a digital alarm clock and a nice tuner light (which is permanently lit on AC power). On top, there is a very long row of 14 buttons, and they have a very nice-feeling action. An MP3 player can be connected with a DIN cable.
