Sony CFS-77
The Sony CFS-77 was introduced in 1981. It's a great-looking, high-quality box that belongs in any collection. It measures 576mm wide and 289mm tall. It has 21cm (8.25 inch), 4Ω woofers, and 5cm, 4Ω tweeters. The amplifer consists of a single Sanyo LA4125T chip (the Fisher PH-492 uses 2 of these).
It has a very unique and unconventional look. Since the top surface is sloped down towards the front, the big woofers fill up the entire front panel. There wasn't enough room to install tweeters in the usual places, so Sony decided to hang them in front of the woofers. They're mounted on beautiful chrome legs that remind me of the spaceship landing gear used in TV shows from the 60s and 70s.
To disassemble, remove the 4 slider caps, remove the cassette door cover, remove the 10 screws on the back, and lift up the front case from its bottom edge. To re-assemble, install the top edge of the case first.
