Lloyds PT003
The Lloyds PT-003 was a very colorful and stylish boombox from Taiwan. It was sold in discount department stores during the mid/late 1980s I think. It measures 23.5 inches wide and 13.75 inches tall (handle down). It takes 10 D-cell batteries. It is identical to the Nysonic SG-5000 and the Orbex MS-999. And the Helix HX-4636 also appears to use the same basic architecture and control layout.
It has "22cm" badges on the front case, but if you take it apart and measure the woofers, you will discover they're actually only 20.5cm. The magnets say "Dyna Lloyds 4Ω, 10-15W". The amplifier chip is a Sanyo LA4508, the same one used by the Conion TC-999.
It's pretty hollow and empty inside, evidenced by the fact that it only weighs 13.5 lbs without batteries. That's about 3 lbs lighter than a JVC M70, which is a smaller box. But at least each tape deck has its own motor, unlike most other black monster boxes. Unfortunately there are no Line In or Phono inputs. It only has a Mic input, which I'm assuming is mono only. Oh and there is only one condenser microphone (on the upper right corner). The one on the left is fake.
