The TA-80 was a very rare boombox from Diatone (Mitsubishi). I believe it was only sold in Japan. Diatone had a tendancy to produce very unique and original designs, and the TA-80 is no exception. It looks like it might be a 3-piece boombox, but it's actually just a very long 1-piece. In the first photograph below, it is sitting on top of the optional BP-20 Power Booster, a powered subwoofer cabinet.

The controls are laid out in a very unique manner. The tuner uses a vertical scroll. It also has station presets. The tape deck is logic-controlled, with traditional analog VU meters above it.
