High-quality boombox sold by Montgomery Ward during the early 80's.

Montgomery Ward GEN-3966

The GEN-3966 was a 3-piece boombox sold by Montgomery Ward during the early 1980's. It has a graphic equalizer, Dolby, aux input, and a huge LED meter. The tuner knob is flywheel-weighted. The volume knob feels nice too - it has a detented movement with 30 detents. It also has two antennas, which is rare for a 3-piece boombox.

It measures 31 inches long, 14 inches high (with handle), and 7 inches deep. It has 6-inch woofers and 2-inch tweeters. According to the Wards catalog, its power output is 10 watts per channel minimum RMS, at 10% distortion. It was made in Japan by Shin-Shirasuna Electric Corp. It is nearly identical to the Silver SR-8000L. Please visit that page for more detailed information.
