The Contec MCP-300 is a 3-piece ghettoblaster which appears to be the same as the Contec 3883. It's a heavy beast....21.3 lbs (9.7 kg) without batteries. It takes 10 D-cell batteries, and it can also operate on 110-120V or 220-240V. Note that the faceplate isn't actually metal. It's just silver plastic, or maybe vinyl. But it's a good imitation of metal.

The one I owned didn't sound very good (it sounded kind of "muffled", and did not have much treble), but the knobs and switches were fantastic. Each of the toggle switches gives a solid "clunk". There are detents in the volume knob. The tape deck keys operate with a solid, machine-like feel.

It was most likely built by Hitachi, because the speakers and speaker attachment points look like certain Hitachi models.

The LED's look great! Unfortunately they are "power meters", not true VU meters, so you need to crank up the volume to make all the LED's light up.
