The Helix HX-4636 is a very stylish ghettoblaster with loads of chrome and colorful decals.

Helix HX-4636

The Helix HX-4636 is a large black ghettoblaster from the mid or late 1980's. It was made in Taiwan and takes ten D-cell batteries. It is nearly identical to the Watson RR-5600 and the Hortex PC-9090. And it appears to use the same controls and tape decks as the Lloyds PT003.

Its build quality isn't very good, but it certainly LOOKS good with all its chrome and colorful decals. It has 8" woofers and 1.5" tweeters. It looks like there's an additional pair of speakers on the top corners, but those are actually microphones. And according to one owner who took his apart, only the right microphone is real - the left one is fake. This is typical of the mid-late 1980's, when manufacturers started reducing features.
