Akai
Akai means "red" in Japan. They were a well-known Japanese consumer electronics brand during the 1980s and 90s, especially their tape decks. Their products were well respected. They did not release as many portable devices as the other large manufacturers, but the ones they did were decent quality. They went out of business in 2000, but several years later the brand name was acquired by a company in Singapore. There is another company called Akai Professional which has no connection whatsoever with the new company.
