The Toshiba RT-S931 is quite the looker. A very rare model that is seldom seen, it's claim to fame is a unique detachable wireless remote control for the cassette deck. We do not know of another model by any manufacturer with this feature.
The remote control parks right below the cassette deck itself and operates the deck just like you would expect from any servo controlled deck system, already an advanced high end feature on any portable device of it's era, but the controls themselves can be removed with a push of a button and will work wirelessly as if it was still attached to the boombox. Of course batteries are required for that to work independantly of the boombox. Not only does the boombox look attractive, but it also sounds very good. Sadly, as with all equipment with detachable parts, the detached part is often lost. Once lost, the deck on the boombox is for all practical purposes, useless without a means a means to control it's operation.
