The EXOS-9 was introduced in 2015, and was being sold for $299 direct from Aiwa. This Aiwa is actually a newborn Aiwa, with totally different people than the Aiwa of old. The old Aiwa ceased to exist in the mid 2000's. The new Aiwa was launched by an investor in Chicago who acquired the rights to the name.

The EXOS-9 is a very powerful and well-built boombox. It utilizes class D amps, in a bi-amp'd format. The Aiwa website claims that it has a "continuous" power output of 200 watts. There are 5 speakers, making it look somewhat similar to the old Aiwa CS-880 from the early 1980's. There is one major limitation: It only plays Bluetooth and a 3.5mm aux input. It does not have a radio tuner, CD player, cassette player.

The grill is not easily removable. You have to do it from inside. Also, the trim rings around the speakers are not chrome. They are a boring, dull gray. Here are some photos from Boomboxery member "hardmen" who took his grill off and painted the rings silver.
