Telefunken CR-100

The Telefunken CR100 is a fantastic ghettoblaster, for many reasons:

  • It has a beautiful, lighted tuner dial, with an acrylic plate that carries the light all the way across the dial.
  • Metal knobs and switches (even the tuner knob), and the metal is brushed for maximum grip.
  • Metal trim plate.
  • The toggle switches have an interesting shape. They are very thick and have finger supports.
  • Dual antennas.
  • Aux input for your MP3 player
  • Good sound for its size. Warm and fuzzy bass (not tight), and a good amount of treble. Nice "stereo wide" function.

The LED meters indicate signal strength when you're using the tuner. But you can also make them dance to the music by inserting a blank tape and pressing Record. In fact you can leave the Record key down forever, because the motor does not run unless you press Rec + Play.

It has 4 speakers (15cm woofers and 4cm tweeters). It contains two Telefunken TBA810AT amplifier chips, which according to Google provide a maximum of 7 watts each. The Telefunken catalog says 10 watts per channel "music power". It is a 12 volt boombox (8 D-cell batteries). It measures 505 x 297 x 140 mm, and it weighs 6.3 KG (13.8 lbs) without batteries.
