A small stereo box from 1979 that seems to have been pretty popular.

Sony CFS-65

Sony introduced the CFS-65S in 1979. They must have sold quite a few of them, because you can find one on Ebay nearly every week. It measures 44 x 25 x 12 cm, and it weighs 9.0 lbs without batteries. It has 12cm woofers and 5cm tweeters. According to the service manual, its power output is 2x2W at 10% distortion, when using batteries. (With most boomboxes the output is higher on AC). The amplifier chip is a Sanyo LA4125.

Like most Sonys, the build is good, with good quality plastic, nice-feeling controls, and plenty of metal trim. And like most Sonys, it has unique styling, with nice wheel-like spokes behind the speaker grills, and twin LED meters that move in the same direction, like the ones on the Sony CFS-F5.
