The RX-5400 was a nice, darker-colored version of the RX-5600.

National RX-5400

This model is a darker-colored version of the RX-5600. It's more rare, because it was only sold in Japan (to my knowledge). That's why its voltage is 100V. It was introduced in 1980, and measures 564 x 325 mm. It has 16cm woofers and 5cm tweeters, and makes 2x5 watts according to the Japanese EIAJ/DC industry standard. Unlike the RX-5600, it does not have a Metal tape setting....Just Normal, FeCr, and CrO2. However, it does have a special feature called BBD ECHO, which is probably an echo setting you can use with an external mic. It also has 7-track TPS (Tape Program Search). Perhaps that's why it was priced higher than the RX-5600, at 73,800 Yen instead of 69,800.
