Sweet looking box with white woofers and big chrome dust-caps.

Condor 897

The Condor 897W or J-44 was sold in Germany during the 1980's. It looks like the textbook definition of a ghettoblaster. Maybe it's the white woofers and big chrome dustcaps. Maybe it's the colorful labels, explaining things that don't need to be explained (like "Stereo Cassette Player" and "4 Speakers"). Whatever the case, it has a youthful, playful look that screams "street"!!

It is very similar to the Helix HX-4633, which means it was probably made in Taiwan. It has 4 bands, 2 antennas, and 2 tape decks (each with its own motor, fortunately).

Dimensions: 543mm long, 322mm tall
Woofers: 6-inch, 4 ohm, 10 watts, unbranded
Tweeters: 2-inch, 4 ohm, 2 watts, unbranded
Amplifier: Toshiba
Power requirements: 220V or eight D-cell batteries
